Day Two - Toowoomba to Tookeys Creek

Well today started a little later than expected after a chase around Toowoomba looking for some black dance pants. At some stage in the early hours of the morning, the thought came to me that perhaps they hadn't been packed. When the sun came up, we headed out to the car to check the dancing bag and sure enough, there were no black pants.
The only dancewear shop we could find opened at 9am so we spent the morning washing the towels, sheets and undies from the day before. That was, of course, after realising today's undies were in the caravan. Luckily Emily volunteered to crawl in there and grab them.
The dancewear shop couldn't help us but suggested Hanna's so off we went. Finding a carpark for a car and caravan in the vicinity of Hanna's is somewhat challenging so Emily and I just got thrown out the door. Black pants duly purchased we headed off.

Miles and miles of roadworks at 80 and 60 km/h made for a long slow day. We stopped in Goondiwindi to get supplies for the next couple of days and Peter got to work figuring out where it would all fit in the esky.
We had  lunch in a park there as well. There was an older style metal playground with a roundabout and we couldn't resist a play.

Heading in to NSW we made the obligatory stop at the state border sign for a photo and then continued on towards our camp for the night at Tookeys Creek.
It's daylight savings time in NSW but it finishes tonight so we have decided not to change our watches. We told the kids about Daylight Savings and Sarah insisted on asking us what time it was in Qld and NSW for the next few hours!

To the north of Moree the kids were delighted to see fields of snow reminiscent of Narnia. We're pretty sure they did actually realise it was cotton!

Ominous grey clouds formed in front of us and the rain began as we entered Moree.

An occasional flash of lightning impressed the kids but Peter and I were just thinking forward to the time we had to put the van up.

As it turned out, the rain had stopped just before we pulled into the rest stop so we put the van up without getting wet.

Sarah and I wandered off to find a cache while Emily cooked the sausages for dinner. We must have looked a sight as we stomped through the stubbly grass trying to persuade anything lurking there to flee. We almost didn't need to walk as there were enough mosquitoes to carry us there.

After dinner I taught Tim a new card game - Elevens, while the girls wrote there blogs and then it was in to bed.

Tomorrow, the plan is to visit Siding Springs Observatory and then see where we end up after that.
